— About
I learned how to draw and paint before I could talk. Now 20 years later my constant tool of expression is the camera. Upon graduation from high school, with two years of experience as a yearbook photographer under my belt, I debated between attending Brooks Institute for Photography or Soka University. The obvious path for an aspiring photographer would have been Brooks. But instead, I chose Soka because the school’s mission statement inspired me “to become a global citizen committed to living a contributive life.” Soka offered a chance to learn, grow and live with people from all over the world, and it ultimately gave me the opportunity to discover how photography can touch the heart and impact the viewer's understanding of the human experience. My study abroad and photo adventures took me from small villages in Ecuador and Peru, to the Galapagos Islands and the Amazon Forest. The path to becoming a global citizen has enriched my photography skills way beyond what I could have imagined. More important than technical skills is the heart and mind of a photographer. With passion, humor and heart, I try to bring out the best in every person that I have the privilege to photograph.
My goal is to connect with people and my environment on a level deeper than the camera can see. So if it’s your first time taking portraits or you want to capture the special moments of your event, I’m sure we’ll be able to click.
