I rummaged through old electronics and stumbled across my old iPhone 4. For the longest time, I had wanted to return to shooting on "older" technology (2010 is old news apparently). Interestingly, the iPhone 4 felt more like a film camera than it did a cellphone in my hands. The "primitive" features were slow and clunky, but they drew out patience and deliberation from me. An intentional eye and steady hands resulted in grainy yet authentically compelling images. Walking around Chinatown with only an iPhone in my hand taught me to slow down, compose, and craft images with a purpose. It's funny, but my once-discarded iPhone 4 singlehandedly revitalized my experience of photography.
